Look Your Best for the Holidays — and Beyond — With Ultherapy®

Another year is fast coming to a close and the holidays are approaching. You look in the mirror and realize that time is catching up with you in the form of sagging skin, and you want to do what you can to put your best face forward.

At McHugh Plastic Surgery, Dr. Thomas McHugh understands that not everyone wants to take the leap and undergo a facelift, which is why we offer advanced laser technologies that can tighten sagging skin. One technology that our clients are particularly pleased with is the Ultherapy® system, which can hit the reset button on your collagen.

Collagen and aging skin

To understand how Ultherapy works, it’s helpful to understand the forces behind aging, sagging skin, namely the loss of collagen.

Collagen is a protein that’s found in all of your body’s tissues and organs, and it provides structure to these tissues. As a young adult, you benefited from ample amounts of collagen in your skin which kept it taut and resilient. As you exit your teens and enter your 20s, however, your production of collagen begins to decline — about 1% a year.

This collagen loss is barely noticeable at first, but as the years go by it can become more evident in visible areas as your face, neck, and chest lose volume and the skin begins to sag.

Ultherapy to the rescue

The reason Ultherapy is so effective in tackling the signs of aging is that it goes straight to the source of the problem — the loss of collagen. With Ultherapy, we deliver ultrasound energy deep into your tissues.

Your skin registers the ultrasound energy as heat, and then it jumps into action to strengthen itself against the heat. This reaction comes in the form of renewed collagen production.

Rest assured, you don’t feel the heat on the surface of your skin, as the thermal effect is only registered deep in your tissues. Even better, the Ultherapy technology allows us to focus the sound wave energy to the right depths and with the right temperatures for maximum results.

An Ultherapy treatment typically takes us only an hour or two to administer and there’s no downtime afterward, which means you can get on with your busy holiday planning.

When it comes to results, you will need to be patient as your collagen production ramps up and begins to lift and tighten your skin from below. In most cases, you’ll see results after a few weeks, and these results may continue to improve over three months.

Since ultrasound energy is so safe, we can use Ultherapy to tighten sagging skin on your face, neck, and around your chest.
