All About Cellulaze®: Get Smooth, Cellulite-Free Skin With One Non-Surgical Treatment

Cellulite certainly doesn't discriminate when it comes to body size — it affects those who are thin as well as overweight. But it does affect women more than men. About 80% to 90% of women develop cellulite, especially around the buttocks, thighs, and hips.

The good news is that, no matter your size or gender, there’s an excellent, FDA-cleared solution: Cellulaze®.

Here at McHugh Plastic Surgery, Dr. Thomas McHugh helps clients reach their cosmetic goals every day, not only with excellent surgical solutions, but also with advanced laser technologies that are changing the way we approach conditions like cellulite. And there’s no better example than Cellulaze.

So, if you’d like to say goodbye to unsightly cellulite, read on to learn more about our innovative Cellulaze platform.

The road to cellulite

Your skin, the body’s largest organ, is attached to underlying muscles via fibrous bands called septa. When fat pushes through these bands, it can create an uneven appearance on the surface of your skin. Often described as pitting or dimpling, cellulite is the result of fatty tissue pushing up through this network of tough bands.

Cellulite can affect people of all sizes and weights, which means people with less fat aren’t immune to this condition. Of course, with more fat, cellulite can become more prominent and noticeable.

The reason why cellulite is found more in women is likely due to two factors:

  1. The septa in women run parallel, rather than in the criss-cross pattern that occurs in men.
  2. Reproductive hormones are thought to promote cellulite.

As with most conditions, there’s also a genetic component, so if you have immediate family members with cellulite, you might be more at risk.

Getting back to smooth skin with Cellulaze

Cellulaze is a unique laser treatment. We first insert a fiber below your skin, where it delivers wavelengths of energy that sever the connective bands that hold your skin in place. Once these bands are cut, your skin shouldn’t pucker as much.

While this is highly effective in treating cellulite, Cellulaze goes even further to give you smooth, cellulite-free skin.

The same fiber that cuts the septa with a horizontal beam also features beams that travel upward and downward. The upward bursts of energy are designed to heat your tissues to the right thermal temperature to elicit a collagen response in your skin, which tightens up the surface area.

At the same time, there’s also a downward beam that coagulates your fatty tissues, making it less likely to push through the connective bands.

Between these three actions, you can see why Cellulaze is so great at addressing cellulite. And the best part? We can do this in one treatment.

So, if you want to head into summer with smooth skin you’re proud to show off, it’s time to explore whether Cellulaze is right for you. To get started, we invite you to contact our office in The Woodlands, Texas, to schedule an appointment.
